Coping With COVID-19: Prudence Let us take exercise extra caution and use of a surgical mask as a precautionary measure on the classes, and keep a safe distance from other workshop attendees. On arrival at the studio, wash your hands. Be conscious of what you touch in common areas. If the weather permits, we will lift the wheels out to the front of the studio so we can have a lot of fresh air. BRING YOU OWN apron and FACE mask, and please wear clothes and shoes you're ok with getting dirty.

At UDUMBARA, you are submerged in a real pottery studio with an experienced potter (Eva Spoof). We have four potters wheels in the studio. On one pottery wheel everyone takes a turn with Eva, she will make sure that everyone tries on the pottery wheel will be successful. One the other wheel´s you test your skills on your own.
The fee includes all materials up to 6 kg Kultela clay, guidance + flowerpot firing two vessels + 24 % VAT. Each adult and child (10+) attending needs to be enrolled separately and pay the class fee.
Like piano playing, it looks like fun and looks easy. It takes a long time to get proficient at it. We make Flowerpots, as wild clay is ideally suited for it. Also, the first pottery experiments are usually bit wonky, but look cute when you plant something on it.
You can check the available times at https://udumbara.youcanbook.me or send a mail to email@example.com.
UDUMBARA (est. 1994) is Earth-friendly pottery; we use wild, red clay from the small village of Kultela in Somero, Southwestern Finland. The material gives the products a wonderfully rich earthy character. By choosing this local raw material, Eva wants to emphasize the unique and ecological value of this little-used local clay. Wild clay planters are ideally suited for plants physiological needs. Part of their beauty is their tendency to beautify with age as they weather and absorb mineral salts from the soil.
Also, as the sun gives off far more energy than we need to power everything on earth, our studio & kiln are powered by solar energy.
General Class Information Please read this in detail before the purchase. Thank you.
Working at the studio with Kultela clay is "slow design," and big pottery kiln is only fired a few times per season. It also takes much more time and patient when working with wild clay. We will inform you when flowerpots are ready, so remember to be patient.

Please keep in mind; The pottery wheel takes time and patience to master, and many beginners become frustrated early on. The pottery wheel and ceramics studio, in general, can be a dirty, messy place. No matter what precautions you take, you will end up with clay on your clothes and/or shoes at some point. The studio will provide an apron to help protect your legs from splatter, but please wear clothes you're ok with getting dirty. Wild clay has lots of iron, and it can stain light fabrics. It is best to wear old loose-fitting pants. Long nails can cause accidental gouges in the piece you're working on. If you have long hair, plan on having a way to secure it.
We will not be responsible for any unclaimed pottery after two months of the date of when they are ready, and you have been informed.
Thank You and Welcome to UDUMBARA!
