Product description

Welcome to join our wild clay planter pot — intensive pottery wheel workshop at UDUMBARA studio.

Our classes are open to all levels for adults and teens. Tuition is 85 €; The fee includes all materials up to 6 kg Kultela clay, guidance + planter pot firing for two vessels + 24 % VAT. The workshop starts at 4.30 PM and ends at 7.15 PM for cleanup.

Osaamme myös suomea, tervetuloa. Vi talar också svenska, välkommen.

At UDUMBARA pottery(est. 1994), you are submerged in a real pottery atelier with an experienced potter (Eva Spoof). Everyone takes a turn with Eva, and everyone has their wheels to work on. Class size is limited and will be filled on a first-come,first-served basis.

We will wedge and prepare you plenty of clay to practice throwing. You choose two planters for trimming, cleaning, and firing at the end of the workshop. The pottery wheel and ceramics studio, in general, can be a dirty, messy place. No matter what precautions you take, you will end up with clay on your clothes and shoes.

Like piano playing, the pottery wheel takes time and patience to master, and beginners may become frustrated early on. It will require perseverance, patience, and independent thinking. I will encourage you to challenge yourself to learn a skill and think about your values and sustainability as a maker. Learning a skill and working with your hands and wild clay brings mindfulness and comfort to your life; at Udumbara studio, we are teeming with international professionals who are looking to de-stress, unplug, and socialize; with others.

Working with local Kultela clay is a “slow design,” The studio’s big pottery kiln is only fired a few times per season. It takes time and patient when working with wild clay. We will inform you when planter pots are ready, so please be patient.

We will be happy to send your products to your home; this will be charged postage-free.

When you make pottery with Kultela clay, you dont just get a planter pot; you will also get 100% transparency, local clay, a real piece of Finland 🇫🇮 .

We use solar choice energy at our studio and kiln to reduce the high carbon footprint in pottery making.
