Seasonal Yoga is designed to practice asanas, pranayama and meditation in alignment with the seasons. Diet, lifestyle and seasons according to Ayurveda will also be discussed during the class.
Ayurveda’s sister science, is Yoga. Ayurveda is the science of life (Ayur = life, Veda = science or knowledge).
For example, winter-early spring is Kapha season and invigorating asanas to open the heart, chest and lungs are encouraged.
Recognizing that human beings are part of nature, Ayurveda describes three fundamental energies that govern our inner and outer environments: movement, transformation, and structure. Known in Sanskrit as Vata (Wind), Pitta (Fire), and Kapha (Earth), these primary forces are responsible for the characteristics of our mind and body.
Justine Cederberg, the founder and proprietor of PRASAD, is an Ayurvedic consultant, Yoga teacher, and Herbalist. Born in Canada, she lives in Porvoo, Finland. Her Ayurvedic offerings focus on "Ayurveda for Nordic Lifestyle", taking into account the Finnish climate and Western traditional medicine.
