One of the oldest known Ghost stories in the World is from Egypt and was written somewhere between 1189-1077 BC. The story tells about restless Ghost, whose tomb has deteriorated, and who overpriest Amun Khonsuemheb wants to prepare a new sepulcher, so that the spirit would not need to spend his nights out in the Land of the Dead anymore. The original and still uncompleted story has been written in four potsherds (ostraka), that has been preserved in museums in Paris, Florence, Vienna, and Turin. Ostrakas were found between the years 1880-1905 in Egypt in the site of Deir el-Medina necropolis, which is located near Thebes. The beginning and end of the fragmented story are still unknown, and no one knows how the story begins or ends on this day, because not all the fragments of the story have been found. This Autumn Fairytale Forest will publish an adaptation of the World's most ancient Ghost story, Khonsuemheb and the Ghost, that is based on the fragments of Paris, Florence, Vienna, and Turin. According to his habit, the overpriest Amun Khonsuemheb followed the advice that had been given to him, and he ferried slowly across the nightly stream of the River Nile towards his home in the Underworld. When he got there, he caused quite a bustle, and all sorts of good things happened when he arrived. He climbed over the rooftops of the Underworld, placed his hands around his mouth, and invoked the gods of the sky and the gods of the earth, southern, northern, western, and eastern, and the gods of the underworld, saying to them: "Send me that august spirit, who wanders here lost and without home." And so the spirit came and said to him: "I am your spirit, you are calling. I am the one who has come to sleep during the night next to his tomb." Then the High Priest of Amun Khonsuemheb said to him: "Please tell me your name, your father's name, and your mother's name that I may offer to them and do for them all that has to be done for one in their position." August spirit said to him: "Nebusemekh is my name, Ankhmen is my father's name, and Tamshas is my mother's name." Then the High Priest of Amun-Re, King of the Gods, Khonsuemheb, said to him: "Tell me what you want so that I may have it done for you. And I shall have a sepulcher prepared anew for you and have a coffin of gold and zizyphus-wood made for you, and you shall rest, and I shall have done for you all that is done for you, all that is done for the spirit who is in your position." €6.50

    Incl. VAT 0.00%

Adalmina's pearl is a Finnish Fairytale classic about princess Adalmina and a magic pearl given to her by the Fairy godmothers. Based in detail on the original story of Zacharias Topelius. Once upon a time there was a king and a queen who had a little girl, and because she was a daughter of the king she was called a princess. Her name was Adalmina and she was an only child of her parents, and because of that they adored her so much, almost too much. When princess Adalmina was christened there were two good fairies invited to be the god mothers, one of them Red, the other one Blue, which is the way of regals of fairytales. And both of those fairies did not forget either to give gifts to the little princess from their both. The Red Fairy gave her a big, pure pearl – so unparalleled in beauty that equal to it had never been seen. And the pearl was followed by three fine gifts. “Now listen”, said the fairy, ”as long as Adalmina carries the pearl with her, she will become more beautiful, more rich and more intelligent day by day. But if she misplaces her pearl then she incorrigibly misplaces those three gifts of hers at the same time: her beauty, her riches and her intelligence. She will not gain back these until she has gained her pearl again.” [...] Downloadable mp3-file Length: 27 minutes Age group: 5-9-year-old and grown-ups Illustration: Tomas Heinonen ISBN 9789527556818 Product has a 30-day money back guarantee if you are not happy with the product. Fairytale Forest audiobooks: Willow tit's dream

    €6.50

    Incl. VAT 0.00%

Willow tit's dream is a contemporary tale about a friendship of a willow tit and a hummingbird written by Elina Huttunen, the founder of Fairytale Forest. Above a dark green moss tussock, on a thick branch of an evergreen, sang a humble Willow tit, all by itself. “Tyy-tyy-tyy” it sang full of hope, because summer had just arrived in its home forest. Warm wind was blowing in the air and above a sprig roof, the sky was as blue as the blue could ever be apart from few white, fair clouds floating across the sky. Willow tit was a colourless little bird and it did not attract a lot of attention in its surroundings most of the time. Its coat was black and grey and white and it had a little black beak, and with it Willow tit mended every now and then its little nest that was located in its home forest in a tree fallen some decades ago and now decaying. And to its soft trunk its beak was like made of. Its black, little bright eyes were watching the surroundings curiously and it was always ready for adventures, although no one ever asked it to join on their adventures, because it was only a tiny and simple Willow tit. Willow tit sang praise not only for summer and to mellow warm winds and sunshine arriving along with it but also about joys that had thrilled it’s little heart lately. And about a great longing, although for a human ear it sounded only a plain bird singing in the woods. Fairytale Forest audiobooks: Maiden of Netherworld

    €6.50

    Incl. VAT 0.00%

Maiden of Netherworld (1900) written by Fredrika Runeberg (1807-1879) tells a story of Daughter of Death, who fells in love with a youth from World of Living. “Life is love.” Do you want to hear a tale about Daughter of Death? Dark billows a stream of Netherworld. Who looms in mist on its shore? Who approaches a gloomy cabin of Underworld? Lady of Death stands on the shore. She summons daughters of Netherworld: “Daughters of Death, Death himself approaches its dark home, the strong ruler, the master of the land, approaches with its prey. Grand is the prey he is bringing with him, Daughter of Death, youngest of your siblings, grip oars, move the barque to the other side of stream.” Yet flows the barque slowly along dark water. Silent strokes of oars rows the girl of Underworld. She gazes into the distance, thither where Death is making its approach. Who will the strong, all-dooming prince of devastation bring with him? A pale youth, your figure proves vigour in every sinew, how come you have let yourself to be defeated? Curls of your hair dangle blustering on both sides of your proud forehead, a hand pressed to a fist still holds a grand sabre and still lingers heat of anger on your temples, still blood from a hurt on your chest fountains as red. You had all might, you had all beauty, why did you allow Death to take you with him? €4.50

    Incl. VAT 0.00%

Fairytale A Christmas tale from the Woods is a story about the true essence of a Christmas gift - how the most simple kind of gifts are more important than we might think. One day before Christmas, a little boy named Bruno was sitting inside his home on the couch. He liked very much to watch TV in the wintertime in the comfort of his home while observing the cold weather outside. Winter wasn’t his season because it was too cold and the frost on the grass and the streets made it slippery and unpleasant for Bruno to play outside. But Bruno also liked to stay inside during winter because of the way he could entertain himself at home: watching TV, playing video games, playing with his cat and enjoying the biscuits his dad made. The outdoors was just boring for Bruno! The wintertime was made for spending time with his family, while the summer was for his friends, thought Bruno. For many weeks it didn’t snow, there was only rain and wind. But one day, some snowflakes fell onto the garden outside and on the trees of the woods surrounding the house. Within a couple of hours, snow started to grow into a thick layer. Bruno still didn’t want to go out and explore the surroundings until his dad said: "Bruno, darling, why don’t you go out and play in in the snow? It is the first snowfall of the year."
