Foraging walk in Lauttasaari in Helsinki Tuesday 5th of May 2026
There are abundant superfoods growing wild and free in the forests near the Helsinki Capital Region!
I warmly invite you to explore Finnish wild herbs and vegetables. During this foraging adventure, we will visit the beautiful northern nature around Helsinki and learn to identify the most common and delicious wild foods. Participants will also discover how to use wild herbs in cooking, and after the workshop, receive a handout by email covering the most common wild herbs.
In addition, you’ll hear fascinating plant stories, including their nutritional values, folklore, mysteries, and history. Typically, we cover a minimum of 15 edible wild plants. Please bring your own basket if you have one, or you can use paper bags provided by the guide. If you wish to take notes, bring a notebook and pen.
The foraging adventure is led by licensed wild food guide, herbalist, and biologist Anna Nyman. Participants will also receive an e-book about wild herbs in Finland by email after the workshop.
Please note: The workshop takes place outdoors, so it will go ahead in light rain. Dress appropriately for the weather, and we may reschedule in case of severe weather conditions.
