Commissioned by the Montola Wind Band. Karelia is the name for southeast part of Finland. Its famous of songs from where Jean Sibelius with many others have got their material for several compositions. Partly lyrical and partly rhythmic piece of music that is suitable for both concert halls and outdoor concerts. Koskinen skills as a master arranger guarantees the expressiveness of the work combined with good playability. Duration ca. 3´33´.

Lt. colonel Jyrki Koskinen (1964-2023) has had a long career in Finnish Defence Forces as a trumpet player and since 1993 as a conductor. Before Koskinen was appointed to the Chief Conductor of the Finnish Defence Forces he worked as Chief of the Guards Band, Chief of the Dragoon Band, Commandant of the Military Music School, Conductor and Chief of the Savo Military Band and the Finnish Conscript Band. Koskinen has also conducted several civilian Brass and Wind Bands and has both composed and written arrangements for different ensembles and orchestras.
Jyrki Koskinen worked as a producer and Artistic Director of the Hamina Tattoo International Military Music Festival. He was rewarded for his acts for developing Finnish Military Music School and nominated as the Military Musician of the Year 2005. In the beginning of 2021 Koskinen retired from Defence Forces and sadly passed away in 2023.
