Louise Wilson is a highly experienced specialist detection trainer and handler with a career spanning over 21 years. She has focused on training and handling dogs for various detection purposes, including explosive detection, drug detection, cash detection, live body detection, tobacco detection, cadaver detection, pest detection, ivory detection and production animal original detection
In addition to her work in these fields, Louise has also been involved in conservation detection, training dogs to detect specific species and species signs such as hedgehogs, watervoles, otters, bats, pine martens, various bird species, and large carnivores. Her expertise extends to a wide range of detection scenarios, making her a valuable asset in the field of conservation.
Louise's experience extends beyond the borders of one country, as she has worked extensively worldwide, training and mentoring dog teams in various locations. Some of the countries she has worked in include the Falklands, Germany, Switzerland, France, Seychelles, Greece, Canary Islands, Denmark, Poland, USA, Australia, and Gabon. This global experience has given her a deep understanding of different environments, challenges, and cultural nuances, enhancing her ability to train and handle detection dogs in diverse settings.
Louise's approach to detection training is centered around the well-being of the dogs and handlers. She believes in the importance of the one welfare framework, which prioritizes the welfare of both the animals and the handlers. Ilkka Hormila is Worldwide Specialist of Scent Detection Training. He has an experience of 50 years with the Police K9. During his career Hormila worked at The K9 Scent Detection Unit teaching the ID- detection and Explosive, Arson and Cadaver detection. He has also served in operational duties with his Police Dogs.
Hormila is internationally respected lecturer and trainer all over Europe, in Baltic Countries, in USA and in Asia as in India, Malaysia, Singapore and China.
He has been member of The SWGDOG (Scientific Working Dog Group on Dog and Orthogonal Detector Guidelines) in USA for seven years. Hormila has worked in co-operation with the Search & Rescue dog handlers for decades and has been teaching ID- and SAR-search and Nose Work for common dog owners.
