Product description

Sunday 6.10.2024 at 10.00–16.00

In the Lith Printing workshop, taught by the Nordic Analog Network programme residency artist Åsmund Lahaug, the students learn the basics of the fascinating Lith printing process.

A lith print is often characterized by a more graphic and contrast expression than a traditional black and white darkroom print. Nevertheless, in some of the intermediate parts of the print, subtle nuances and vivid shades of grey and grain structure are given. Or brown tones. Or red tones. Or something else!

After the course the student can:

  • develop lith prints from the negatives
  • understands the process requirements and chemistry used
  • knows about the history and technique of lith printing in theory

In the course there is no teaching on:

  • the basic workflow of the darkroom printing
  • gelatin silver printing
  • film developing

The participants should bring one or more of their own negatives to make their own lith print from, but this is not a requirement for participation, as there will be negatives on site to use as well. The students should have some experience of the basic darkroom printing process and using an enlarger machine.
