"Christmas song of a fox" is based on Finnish folk poetry.
Many years ago I found a really nice Christmas poem in Finnish folk poetry collection Kanteletar (collected and edited by Elias Lönnroos). It told a story of a fox, running a long way across the land to send a message: the son of God is born in a stable! This child-like approach and sincerity of the Finnish folklore.. I really loved it and wanted to make a very simple melody.
When I was at home, playing this song with my piano, my younger son, 10 years, started to play drums (we had those in the living room) and because he loved the shuffle, I turned my straight-feel to shuffle and that made all the difference! So thank you Aleksi!
This song is originally performed and recorded by an amazing Finnish vocal group Rajaton.
