Would you like to start foraging for wild herbs but don’t know how? Are you curious to taste new flavors found in nature? Welcome to Mehtämaa’s and Nuoture’s wild herb foraging course and campfire meal in Nuuksio! During the course, you will learn how to forage wild herbs safely, and at the end of the event you will get to enjoy a delicious meal based on natural ingredients, prepared by Nuoture. During the guided foraging walk, you will learn, among other things: How to identify the most common edible wild herbs What kind of tools are needed for foraging What to take into account when foraging wild herbs How wild herbs can be used in cooking At the campfire meal, you will: Get to taste food made from and flavored with wild herbs Receive tips on how to easily prepare similar wild herb dishes at home, such as wild herb pesto with fresh bread, nettle pancakes with various toppings, and sweet spelt with apple The event will take place on Saturday 23 May 2026 from 2:00 to 5:30 PM in Nuuksio. The event will be held in English. The event is especially suitable for beginners who want to learn the basics of wild herb foraging and get inspired by how herbs can be used in cooking. More experienced foragers are also warmly welcome! Your wild herb guide will be Mehtämaa’s natural products advisor Laura Hautsalo, and the campfire meal will be prepared by Riikka and Valtteri, the couple behind Nuoture, who have extensive restaurant experience. The walk during the outing is approximately 1–2 km in forest terrain. Please bring a basket or other foraging container, scissors, clean gloves, and weather-appropriate clothing. A basket can also be rented from the guide if needed (limited availability). The campfire meal will be prepared at a reservable fire site. Participants will receive a more detailed information email about the outing approximately two days before the event. Questions? In case of an obstacle, your spot can be transferred to another person. We reserve the right to cancel the event due to a low number of participants or challenging weather conditions (heavy rain, storm, or similar). In such cases, we will refund the payments to ticket holders. Please note that during a forest fire warning, the menu will be prepared without a campfire.
