‘Væv’ means tissue and centers the feeling of connectedness to a place or a state of mind. The work is an investigation of my childhood home and the surrounding landscape. I started the project in 2018, where I felt stressed and disconnected and therefore searched home. Surfaces, textures, scenes, landscapes, are the result of spending restless days at the farm where me and my relatives are grown up, searching for answers about identity, belonging and disharmony.

Since then Marie has been working with different medias and materials. The Væv series of pictures is the first dummy. The project was exhibited at Helsinki Photo Festival in 2021.

Marie Bentzon (b. 1995) is a Danish photographer working in the field between documentary and poetry. She grew up in the countryside on the East coast of Jutland but is now based in Copenhagen. Marie has a strong relationship with the place she grew up in, which is reflected in her work. In January 2021, she graduated as a Photojournalist from the Danish School of Journalism (DMJX). Besides working on personal projects, she also works as a freelance photojournalist.
