WILD MUSHROOMS FORAGING WORKSHOP FOR BEGINNERS 7.10.24 at Espoo Central Park at 15:00-18:00

Welcome to learn about mushrooms growing in the Finnish nature! We’ll start off by exploring the basics with a small mushroom exhibition - how to identify different types of mushrooms, including the poisonous ones, and in what kind of terrain you’re most likely to find them. Then we’ll enjoy a walk through the forest picking mushrooms as we go. During this workshop you will also learn how to preserve the mushrooms (drying and freezing). We’ll end the walk by checking everyone’s mushrooms.

You can bring your own mushroom knife and a basket or borrow everything from the guide. You can also bring a bottle of water and snacks if you’d like. Mushrooms can be picked in any weather so if it rains we will still go ahead, but please wear comfortable waterproof clothes and shoes. After the workshop all participants will take home an E-book about wild mushrooms in Finland.

The foraging workshop will be held in English and includes: • A small mushroom exhibition • A beginner’s foraging tour to identify wild edible mushrooms • Learn to identify and use the most common Finnish mushrooms safely • Learn to identify the most common poisonous mushrooms • Learn about local ecology and nature • Learn about preserving mushrooms, including drying and freezing • Understand everyone’s rights and the importance of sustainable foraging • An informative E-book about wild mushrooms in Finland
