Us who glow in the dark on tanssiteos keijuista, pelosta ja tyttöaggressiosta.
Teos on soolotanssi, jossa Sointu Saraste kanavoi keijua ja sen olemuksesta käsin tanssii pelon ja aggression tansseja. Saraste näyttämöllistää tyttöyden haamunsa, jotka ovat:
- sisäänjuurtunut pelko
- piilotettu aggressio
- söpöydeksi väärinymmärretty hirviömäisyys
Teoksen tavoitteena on niin ikään tuoda kunniaa keijun ambivalentille luonteelle. Keiju on vanhoissa uskomuksissa ollut pelätty taikaolento, jonka on uskottu nappaavan lapsia, tekevän vaarallisia kepposia ihmisille sekä jopa johtavan heitä kuolemaan. Nykyään keiju kuitenkin on söpöytetty lapsille ja patriarkaatille soveltuvaksi kiltiksi, kimaltavaksi ja seksikkääksi (ei kuitenkaan liian!) tytöksi.
Sointu Sarasteen sooloteos Us who glow in the dark kuratoitiin Ehkä-tuotannon ohjelmistoon vuoden 2025 avoimen haun Nuori tekijä -kategoriassa.

Us who glow in the dark is a dance performance about fairies, fear, and girl-aggression.
In this solo dance, Sointu Saraste channels a fairy and dances the dances of fear and aggression through its embodiment. Saraste brings on stage the ghosts of her girlhood, which are:
- a deep-rooted fear
- a veiled aggression
- a monstrosity misunderstood as cuteness
The aim is also to pay respect to the ambivalent character of the fairy. In the folkloristic tales, fairies have been dreadful magical creatures. They were feared to carry off children, to play dangerous tricks on people, and even to lead them to death. However, the fairy of today is a kind, glittery, and sexy (but not too sexy!) girl. It is a cutified version, suitable for children and patriarchy.
The solo work Us who glow in the dark by Sointu Saraste was curated into Ehkä-production’s program under the Young Maker category through the 2025 open call.
