Weekly body welfare classes for adults at Contemporary Art Space Kutomo are given by dance artists Kaisa Koulu and Anna Torkkel. The classes are based on relaxing and maintaining the body and muscles through different durational stretchings and breathing exercises, among other things. During the class, we gently go through different parts of the body and muscle groups, focusing on simple movements and positions. After exercise, the body feels relaxed and good. The calm class is suitable for everyone interested in body welfare. The spring 2026 classes start on Monday, 12.1. and the last class is on 11.5. There are a total of 15 classes in the spring season. There are no classes on 16.2. (winter vacation), 6.4. (Easter) and 4.5. (studio in other use). The main language of the class is Finnish. In perpetual blooming, despite the gods is a study on the channelling of the energetic charge of an operatic prelude. A fascination with this vehicle and its potential: the moment before the word, in its germinal state, of blooming. The performance is inspired by texts such as the first six missing pages of the Gospel according to Mary Magdalene, or the ancient poem The Thunder, Perfect Mind, where the unknown writer claims a being of multiplicities: being the silence and the loudness. Being the whore and the holy woman, the bride and the groom. Being “she, the lord” and, at the same time, the root of sin. In the suspended temporal space of the performance, the dancer’s body becomes the conduit and container of a woman catapulted through time. Inhabiting the body of paradoxes, she arrives as a spirit, carrying within herself a lack of voice that is at once age-old and present. A vital force advancing through, continuously morphing, transforming, relentlessly blooming, despite adversity. Prima Materia is a mystical book written to be performed by a bard. The bard travels around the world citing otherworldly messages that were channeled through the bard’s voice, a caved throat transformed into a shifty horn. This is sort of a magic show – a tender look into a powerful undercurrent that operates reality from behind. It asks of us: when’s the last time you were overwhelmed by two big ideas at once? Purple curtains, hung by organized crime, move in the warming winds, backlit by moonlighting. The piece was premiered at 1646 – Experimental Art Space in The Hague, 6 September 2025.
