These Terms & Conditions govern the use of Backstage Academy ry’s services, including courses, workshops, events, performances, membership activities, and digital platforms. By registering for our activities or using our services, you agree to these terms.

1. General Information

Backstage Academy ry is a non-profit organisation offering training and artistic opportunities in dance, singing, theatre and related performing arts. We reserve the right to update these Terms & Conditions at any time. Updates will be published on our website.

2. Registration & Participation

2.1 Eligibility: Participants must meet the age or level requirements stated for each activity. Minors require consent from a guardian.
2.2 Registration: Registration is binding unless otherwise stated. A participant is considered registered once confirmation has been received.
2.3 Attendance: Participants are responsible for attending sessions on time and following instructions from teachers and staff.
2.4 Behaviour & Safety: We expect respectful and professional behaviour from all participants. Any behaviour that endangers others or disrupts the activity may lead to removal without refund.

3. Payments & Refunds

3.1 Payment Terms: Fees must be paid according to the instructions provided at registration. Unpaid participation may result in cancellation.
3.2 Refunds & Cancellations: Refunds are only granted according to the cancellation policy. If a participant is entitled to a refund, the amount will be returned in the form of a discount code that carries the same value and can be used for upcoming courses, workshops, or projects. Cancellations made by Backstage Academy ry (e.g., due to illness or low enrollment) will result in a full refund. No refunds are provided for missed sessions, cancellations 48h prior to the event, or no-shows unless otherwise stated.
3.3 Discounts: Discounts for members or partner organisations are applied as specified in the activity information.

4. Changes to Programmes

We may modify schedules, instructors, venues, or course content when necessary (e.g., illness, technical issues, or force majeure). Participants will be informed of significant changes as soon as possible.

5. Liability

Participation in physical activities such as dance, movement, or theatre involves a certain level of risk. Participants are responsible for ensuring they are physically able to take part. Backstage Academy ry is not liable for injuries, loss of belongings, or damages unless caused by negligence on our part. Participants are encouraged to have personal accident insurance.

6. Photography & Media

During our events and courses, photos or videos may be taken for documentation or promotional purposes. We will only use identifiable material with explicit consent (or from a guardian for minors). Participants may request removal of published material by contacting us.

7. Privacy & Data Protection

We handle personal data in accordance with GDPR. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for full details on how personal information is collected, stored, and used.

8. Use of Website & Digital Platforms

Participants and visitors may not misuse our website or digital channels, including by: Uploading harmful or illegal content Violating copyright Attempting to access restricted areas Disrupting service functionality We reserve the right to block access in case of misconduct.

9. Intellectual Property

Course materials, choreography, texts, videos, and other creative content provided by Backstage Academy ry or its instructors remain the intellectual property of their creators. Participants may not copy, share, or use these materials outside the course unless expressly permitted.

10. Governing Law & Disputes

These Terms & Conditions are governed by Finnish law. Any disputes will be resolved primarily through negotiation. If no agreement is reached, matters may be handled by the competent courts of Finland.
