Full Workshop Details Relax, recharge, and find your center by throwing on a potter’s wheel in a calm and creative environment. This private mini retreat takes place at UDUMBARA Helsinki Pottery Studio (est. 1994) with ceramic artist Eva Spoof, using 100% local Kultela wild clay.
We begin with 25 minutes of silent sitting (tea meditation) — a centuries-old practice to quiet the mind, enhance focus, and bring you fully into the present moment.
First-time potters will make a small planter pot — a lovely keepsake, even if it’s a bit wonky. You’ll have plenty of clay to practice with and enjoy the process.
Why Mindful Pottery? Pottery invites us to release expectations, perfectionism, and the need for a specific outcome — allowing us to be present and enjoy the grounding joy of working with wild clay. With Kultela clay, you’re not just making pottery — you’re taking home a real piece of Finland, created with transparency and respect for nature. Our studio and kiln run on solar choice energy to reduce pottery’s carbon footprint.
What’s Included All materials (up to 6 kg Kultela clay per person) Use of tools Trimming, finishing, and firing for one vessel per person VAT included 25.5 %

Practical Notes Wear clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting dirty (wild clay contains iron that can stain). Keep nails short and hair tied back. Pottery takes patience — beginners start with smaller forms. Firing with wild clay is slow design; the kiln is fired only a few times each season. We’ll notify you via Google Calendar when your piece is ready for pickup.
