Each UDUMBARA chopstick rest is handmade in Helsinki from 100% Finnish Kultela wild clay. The clay comes from Kultela village in Somero, Finland, and its natural character and warm fired colour are left visible – without glaze.

Each piece is shaped and finished by hand, so small variations in form, surface and colour are part of its character. No two are exactly alike.

Designed to keep your chopsticks slightly raised from the table, these tiny ceramic pieces combine a simple everyday function with Finnish natural material.

UDUMBARA Helsinki Pottery studio

Contemporary ceramics studio (est 1994) in Kallio, Helsinki, by ceramist-designer Eva Spoof. UDUMBARA creates unique terracotta planters, ceramic lamps, sculptural pottery, and handmade ceramic objects from local Finnish clay. Visitors are welcome to experience the collection at the studio gallery and choose pieces in person. We also organize pottery workshops using Kultela wild clay.
