Make flowerpots you will always treasure and have a lot of fun in the process.

This is two hours private guided workshop for one person. The fee includes all materials up to 6 kg, guidance, finishing and trimming, and firing four flowerpots.

You can check the available times at https://udumbara.youcanbook.me or send a mail to eva.spoof@gmail.com.

At UDUMBARA, we make sustainable ceramics, use solar energy, and work with wild, local natural clay from the small village of Kultela in Somero, Southwestern Finland. The material gives the products a wonderfully rich character.

Wild clay flowerpots are not glazed, and that's why they are ideally suited for a plant's physiological needs. Part of their beauty is their tendency to beautify with age as they weather and absorb mineral salts from the soil.

When you make your planters in Kultela clay, you don't just get handmade pottery; you get a piece of Finland too.

General Class Information Please read this in detail before the purchase. Thank you.

Working at the studio with Kultela clay is truly slow design as the pottery's big kiln is only fired a few times per season, and it takes much more time and patient when working with wild clay. It is unpredictable, so we can't guarantee that all your works will make it (through drying firing), but we will do our best and take it very slowly to help the progress. We will inform you when they are ready, so remember to be patient. Udumbara will not be responsible for any unclaimed pottery after one month of the date of when they are ready. We will be happy to send the ready-made products to your home; this will be charged extra.

If you find are unable to attend your booking, and it’s more than seven days in advance, we can offer a transfer to another date.  40 € handling fee for transferring the date one week to the date. no rescheduling or refund within three days of the workshop date (unless there is a doctor’s sick leave certificate). We will give no refunds once a workshop has happened.
We will give a full refund if your workshop is canceled d by Udumbara Studio for any reason.
We will not be responsible for any unclaimed pottery after one month of the date when they are ready, and you have been informed.
Please keep in mind; The pottery wheel takes time and patience to master, and many beginners become frustrated early on.

The pottery wheel and ceramics studio, in general, can be a dirty, messy place. No matter what precautions you take, you will end up with clay on your clothes and shoes at some point.  We will provide an apron to help protect your legs from splatter, but please wear clothes you’re ok with getting dirty. Wild clay has lots of iron, and it can stain light fabrics. It is best to wear old loose-fitting pants. Long nails can cause accidental gouges in the piece you’re working on. Nail polish will wear off almost immediately when working with most clays. If you have long hair, plan on having a way to secure it.

Coping With COVID-19:  Let us take exercise extra caution and use a surgical mask as a precautionary measure in the classes.
If you are sick with a fever or cough — no matter whether you were officially tested and diagnosed with COVID-19 — do not come to the class. You can pass on your space to a friend.
Thank You, and Welcome to UDUMBARA!
