Join us at UDUMBARA Helsinki Pottery for a hands-on clay workshop focused on handbuilding techniques.
This workshop is suitable for beginners and anyone curious to explore working with clay in a calm and guided environment.
What you can create You can choose what to make based on your interest: Build a small planter, bowl, or sculptural form using coiling or se simple slab techniques to shape your piece Or create ornaments, pearls or small decorative objects (seasonal or timeless)
Workshop details Duration: 2 hours Group size: 6 participants Material: 2 kg local Kultela clay from Somero Includes: tools, guidance, and firing pieces VAT included (25,5%)
Why this workshop is special We work with local Finnish clay from Kultela village. The clay is minimally processed and fully traceable – connecting your work directly to the Finnish landscape.
Handbuilding is a direct and intuitive way to work with clay. No previous experience is needed.
This workshop is about slowing down, understanding the material, and creating something with your own hands.

Cancellation policy More than 3 days before: transfer or store credit (–€50 admin fee) Within 3 days: one-third of the course fee retained Full refund if canceled by UDUMBARA
After the workshop Firing process Your pieces will be fired in our kiln. Due to our slow design approach and the nature of Kultela wild clay, firing takes place only a few times per year, approximately once a month. This means the process requires time and patience. Notification. We will inform you once your pieces are ready.
Collection The group’s works are packed together for easy pickup. Unclaimed items are stored for 3 months after notification. Shipping is available at an additional cost.
About UDUMBARA Helsinki Pottery We focus on ethical ceramics using local wild clay from Kultela, Somero. Our studio is located in Kallio, Helsinki, and runs on solar energy.
