Product description

Try your luck on a potter's wheel.

(Osaamme myös suomea, tervetuloa. Vi talar också svenska, välkommen).

At UDUMBARA, you are submerged in a real pottery studio with an experienced potter Eva Spoof. If this is your lifelong dream, roll up your sleeves and take the wheel for a spin at a private throwing taster workshop. Now is the perfect opportunity to experience it! We have two pieces (600g ) of clay ready for you. With one piece, you can try the wheel with Eva's guidance. She will ensure that everyone who tries on the pottery wheel will succeed. The second piece is for you to try the wheel on your own. It will take about 40 min per person. Adults and children (accompanied by adults) are welcome to Eva's pottery try-out workshops. It is fun to learn and experience our wonderfully rich wild clay. You can take some nice pics to remember the occasion.

We make a planter pot, as wild terra cotta clay is ideally suited for it. Also, the first pottery experiments are usually a bit wonky but look cute when you plant something on it.

The price per person includes tuition, materials, trimming, and finishing of one (1) flowerpot, and 24 % VAT costs.

Full payment is required upon booking your session. You can check the available times at https://udumbara.youcanbook.me (copy/past the linki) -> Try your luck on a pottery wheel.

As an artist-run artist-operated pottery studio, we minimize administrative work. That is why we have an exact cancellation policy.

GOOD TO KNOW:

Please, wear loose clothes and shoes ( you need to wear shoes); you're ok with getting dirty. Kultela clay has iron in it, and that can stain light-colored clothing. You can easily wash it off from dark clothes; it is just mud. Long nails can cause accidental gouges in the piece you're working on. With artificial nails, it is challenging to do pottery. If you have long hair, plan on having a way to secure it.

Like piano playing, the pottery wheel takes time and patience to master, and beginners may become frustrated early on. It will require perseverance, patience, and independent thinking. But it is fun! We make planter pots, as wild clay is ideally suited for it.

Working with local Kultela clay is a "slow design," The studio's big pottery kiln is only fired a few times per season. It takes time and patience when working with wild natural clay. There will be disappointments; that is part of pottery making.

We will inform (by sending a google calender message ) you when the planter pots are ready. Please be patient. However, please be aware that any unclaimed pottery after four (4) months of the workshop will no longer be held at our studio. We will be happy to ship your products to your home; this will be charged postage-free.

Thank You for reading all the way here, and Welcome to UDUMBARA!
