For all of you, Holvi is the easiest way to run your business or project. Each Holvi account has its own International Bank Account Number (IBAN) allowing you to send and receive direct bank transfers, just as you would with a traditional bank account. Together we will reshape the future of banking and consequently a whole industry. But before that, we would like to share our key information about Holvi with you.

Who are we

We are a Nordic company with Nordic standards. Our home is in Helsinki, Finland and we are authorised and regulated for operations in all of Europe by the Finnish Financial Supervisory Authority (FIN-FSA). Getting started with Holvi

Opening a Holvi account is really easy. You can do it online, in minutes, whether it is for your full time business, your part time hobby or your spot-on passion. Our Holvi account can be opened by an individual for personal use or for a organisation (e.g. a company or an association). The funds on your account belong either to the individual or organisation registered as the account owner.

The basic requirements for opening an account with us are that you are at least 18 years old and are a resident in an European country.

In order to provide you a reliable and secure service, we will always verify your identity. For this, you may be asked to upload your personal documents, such as passport, or company documents.

Social banking for teams

You can share a Holvi account within your team, friends or other people. You as the account owner exclusively have the right to add or remove people to from your shared account.

Managing your Holvi account

When you register to Holvi you will get a customer profile and your accounts (organisation and personal) will be accessible through this profile. Security is our number one priority which is why we require you to always log in with your personal username and passphrase.

You are responsible of managing your Holvi accounts and its transactions. Remember to make sure you know what you need to report and to which authorities. For example, you can use Holvi to help you in tax calculations, but you are responsible for reporting your taxes. You are also responsible for following the applicable laws in your country of residence, so no fishy business, okay?

Sending payments from your Holvi account

Once you are logged in to Holvi, you can send payments from your Holvi account.. As a security measure we need you to confirm all your payments. Payments in the account usually take from 1 to 3 banking days to reach the receiver, depending on the transaction method you have chosen.

Receiving payments to your Holvi account

You can receive regular bank transfers to your IBAN and other online payments for your business, e.g. card payments and other online payments. We provide the payment services so you can concentrate on running your business: handling orders, deliveries and customer support.

As a Payment Institution we have the obligation to monitor the activity on Holvi accounts. We do this in order to offer you a secure and reliable service, and to make sure the service is operated as permitted by the law.

Additional services

A Holvi account is like a swiss knife, there are many things in a simple package. Some of the additional services we offer require separate agreement, either with Holvi or a provider that works with Holvi. All agreements for additional services can be accepted online.

Closing your Holvi account

Closing your Holvi account is as easy as opening it. Inform us at our help center and we will take care of it. There are no charges for closing the account.


With Holvi there are no opening or monthly fees or hidden contract commitments. We are transparent - what you see is what you get. You can always find our pricing on the site. We will inform you electronically and ahead of time on any changes to our pricing.

Activities you can use Holvi for

As we are in this together, we know that you will use your Holvi account for the right reasons. To avoid any confusion, here’s what you should not use the account for:

  1. any activities that violate any law or regulation;
  2. sharing people’s personal information;
  3. any activity violating applicable laws regarding the sales of alcohol, any tobacco products, or prescription drugs and devices;
  4. anything violating copyright, trademark, privacy or any other proprietary right under the laws of account owner’s jurisdiction;
  5. performing any activities on behalf of a person or organisation not based within the European Union, Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein
  6. and activities connected to sales of package travels, package holidays, virtual currencies, products or services related to the Second World War, gambling or services regarded as being of a sexual nature.

Your personal information with Holvi

Keeping your personal information safe is at the heart of our business. We build all our relationships on trust, transparency and reliability. We respect your right to keep your personal information confidential and will not disclose any information to third parties without your consent or authorisation. We may however share information:

  1. with authorities based on lawful information requests; in case of official authorities requests based on a lawsuit or prosecution;
  2. with third party service providers we have contracted for business operations including payment, fraud prevention, validation of customer identity, secure data storage and other similar services;
  3. with financial institutions, their agents or other related parties that we collaborate with;
  4. and between Holvi merchants and their customers as mandated by law or in case of disputes between sellers and buyers.
